My Historico-Cultural Heroes

There are personalities in history for whom I have high regard, fascination and at least a bit of affinity. They played a big political role in the history of their lands but also made a major cultural contribution. In addition, they were all cosmopolitan. There are only four of them. Cue the drumroll:

Snorri Sturluson (1179 – 1241), Iceland, Norway

Duc Charles d’Orleans (1394 – 1465), France, England

Siegmund Freiherr von Herberstein, (1486 – 1566), Holy Roman Empire, Muscovy

Stanisław Leszczyński (1677 – 1766), Rzeczpospolita Polska, Lorraine

There is also a story of how I “met” each one of them
